John Dibblee Crace (British, 1838-1919) From the reign of George III until the end of the Victorian era, the Crace family designed some of England's most notable Royal and noble interiors. Known for his successful interpretations of the historic Pompeian, Neoclassical and Gothic styles, John Dibblee Crace's most famous decorating schemes include the National Gallery, Royal Academy and British Museum, London, as well as notable country houses such as Longleat and Tyntesfield. Designs akin to the drawings presented here are in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York The following three lots of drawings from Crace's interior design studio have come to us from a private Devon collection.
