Jo began her career as a designer of graphics and textiles, creating colourful patterned work. Her more recent paintings in acrylic, limited edition prints and assemblage work, nod to this background. Jo's process begins with a continuous scavenging of her surroundings for shapes and forms. These can be as diverse as a contemporary urban building or a riverside marshland, both equally alluring to Jo. Her aim is to draw people in with colourful harmonising forms and sometimes mysterious imagery. Education Jo gained an MA in 'Textile Futures' in 2006-8 at Central St Martins Select Exhibitions/Awards Selected for the Royal Academy summer show 2021 with 'Summer Step' assemblage in wood Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork I work on my abstract form paintings instinctively, drawing on imagery I have been gathering in sketchbooks for a while. My shapes are often formed with curves. I build up layers and textures until I reach a balance and harmony I am happy with.
