JEFFERSON, THOMAS and JAMES MADISON, Presidents . Partly printed document signed ("Th:Jefferson") as President, ("Jas. Madison") as Secretary of State, [Washington, D.C.], 2 April 1808. 1 page, folio, 410 x 290 mm. (16¼ x 11¼ in.) including mat, PRINTED ON FINE PARCHMENT, accomplished in manuscript, with scalloped head and papered great seal of the United States, two light stains, matted and glazed with a color portrait of Jefferson in an attractive giltwood frame, incorporating a color lithograph of Jefferson , in very good condition. Unexamined out of frame. A ship's passport, with large vignettes of a three-masted vessel under full sail and a detailed harbor scene with sailing ships and a lighthouse, text certifying that the Brig Huron of New York, an unarmed merchantman, should be allowed "to Pass with her Company, Passengers, Goods and Merchandise without any hindrance, seizure or molestation..."
