It was created during the artist's second visit to India undertaken upon an invitation from Rabindranath Tagore Hněvkovský interprets the Biblical scene against an Indian cultural backdrop, as can also be seen in another canvas from that period entitled Original Sin. He eventually published his impressions from the journey in his 1927 book Malířovy Listy z Indie. Oil on canvas. Signed on bottom right "Jar Hněvkovský."
