22.25" single edged forged blade, 1.125" wide at collar, 33.5"overall length. Nakago (tang) is unsigned shows two holes. Brass habaki (collar) with three serrated-edged seppa (spacers) and lobate tsuba (guard) with cherry blossoms on corners. Three additional seppa leading to shagreen-covered tsuka (handle) with tan cotton ito (wrapping)and cherry blossom menuki (ornaments). Laquered wood saya (scabbard) with some leather covering remaining. Likely an older sword in military mounts. Condition: Fair. Blade is mostly bright with some scattered rust and oxidation. Edge has some minor deformities. Habaki shows a crack along its front edge with seppa spaced in a strange order, some upside-down. Tsuba shows a thin layer of rust with dirty ito showing some areas of tearing and unraveling. Some chipping of lacquer with missing sections of leather.
