Hand-forged 20.5" single-edged steel blade, with beveled top edge with single Nakago-ana (mounting holes) in unsigned Nakago (tang) and non-visible Hamon (temper line). The blade appears to have quite a bit of age. Hilt mounts include an unusual brass Habaki with intaglio leaf motifs, two plain brass Seppa and ornate cast iron Tsuba (guard) with pierced and engraved leaf motifs. The grip has a gold and copper inlaid steel Fuchi with leaf motifs, ray covered wood grip with black leather wrap and bronze and gilt Menuki (crest figure) on each side, Sarute (pommel) matches the Fuchi, total length with mounts is 28.2". The Saya (scabbard) is lacquered wood with slot sheath on reverse for a missing Saya (small knife), Koiguchi (throat), Semegane (middle band), and Ishizuke (drag) that match the Fuchi & Sarute on the hilt. Condition: Scabbard is missing carrying ring, blade has lost all finish, with several small nicks on edge and a couple of blemishes.
