PLUS a copy of a grant originally issued by President James Madison to Alexander McClintock, Samuel Horsher, and Joshua Ballinger for a section of land in Chilicothe, Ohio. Although dated 1810, an annexed copy of patent is attached by string which was issued in 1887 and signed by Commissioner of the General Land Office, William A. J. Sparks. NOT SIGNED BY MADISON. 16 x 10 in. Condition: Monroe Land Grant: Toning and foxing throughout smudging on the top right hand corner. Typical folds with some brittle edges. Seal is present but faded. Madison Land Grant and Annexed Copy of Patent: Seal is present and bold with string. Typical folds with some major brittleness on the patent. Toning and more brittle folds on land grant.
