Two documents signed, to the Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Edinburgh, Windsor, 25 July 1687, English and Latin versions of the same text , recommending the election of Alexander Bishop of Moray to succeed to the Bishopric of Edinburgh, countersigned by Merlfort, each one page folio, with integral blank and address leaf ; together with a collection of letters, documents and notes (mostly contemporary transcripts) relating to the Jacobite rebellions of 1715 and 1745, and a few unrelated, approximately 48 items, 139 pages, various sizes ; and a small collection of manuscripts by Robert Chambers and other documents concerning the rebellions.
