Provenance: Purchased at RR Auction, Amherst, New Hampshire, June 2014. Note: In 1836 charges were brought against Dos Santos and associates for equipping and loading the brig San Nicholas as a slave-trading vessel intending to travel to Africa and procuring negroes for the purpose of selling them as slaves in the United States. Cooper served as foreman of the grand jury.
