Beschreibung:

Jakob Nieweg (Hogebeintum 1877 - Amersfoort 1955) Dried Flowers in a Glass Vase Signed and dated 1949 lower right Oil on canvas, 40.3 x 30.2 cm Note: The stretcher mentions the name 'Bremmer'. this might indicate that the work belonged to the collection of H.P. Bremmer (1871-1956) - an ardent lover of innovative Dutch artists such as Jan Toorop Johan Thorn Prikker Piet Mondriaan, Vincent van Gogh and the Bergen School painters. As a matter of fact, In 1899 Jakob came into contact with H.P. Bremmer, who would become his mentor. The teachings of Bremmer had a lasting influence on Jakob Nieweg. Apart from lessons on painting, subjects about architecture and literature were also discussed. The artistic views of Nieweg’s mentor have led to the artist's use of a detailed Pointillism with which he produced calm and timeless depictions.
