FIRST EDITION OF THE AUTHOR'S COLLECTED POEMS, 4to (186 x 132mm.), engraved author portrait frontispiece by Pierre Lombart (not called for and probably from Letters to severall persons of honour, 1651 or 1654) mounted onto preliminary blank, with the two-leaf gathering containing "The Printer to the Understanders" and "Hexastichon Biblioplæ" by Marriot inserted after A4, some pencil annotations in a nineteenth century (?) hand (e.g. beneath "An Epitaph upon Shakespeare", p. 149: "This is by Wm. Basse, not by Dr Donne. See Reed's Shakespeare Vol. 2 page 181"), nineteenth century calf gilt, spine with raised bands in six compartments, morocco label to second compartment, gilt edges, title-page,leaves A3-A4, and pp. 1-146 with worming at lower margin, some spotting and marginal dampstaining
