(Both with various vertical creasefolds and a central horizontal creasefold, Order No. 3 with another horizontal creasefold and chipped and repaired at head, very minor marginal spotting, tiny marginal nicks to top right-hand corner.) VERY RARE POSTERS. As part of the tripartite operation by France, Britain and Israel to oust Nasser from Egypt and seize back control of the Suez Canal, Israel’s forces were deployed to invade the Sinai. As part of this operation, the invasion of the Gaza Strip was ordered in order to control the main routes into the northern Sinai, al-Arish and al-Qantarah. From the Israeli perspective, the invasion also had the advantage of targeting the fedayeen , who, under Nasser's sponsorship, had been carrying out raids into Israeli territory. On 29 October 1956, Israel moved against the southern city of Rafah, taking it on 1 November, and cutting off Egyptian forces. The IDF then attacked Gaza City, taking control the following day. By 3 November, with the fall of Khan Yunis, the IDF had almost complete control of the Gaza Strip. Order No. 3 states that all remaining Egyptian or opposition forces must surrender, and failure to do so, or harbouring such persons, will incur either a 10 year jail sentence or a fine of £10,000, or both. Order No. 6 orders businesses in the Gaza area to remain open so as to continue normal economic activity, and forbids racketeering and profiteering as well as the sale of items to opposition forces. The Israelis withdrew from Gaza in March 1957. WE ARE UNABLE TO TRACE ANY OTHER COPIES AT AUCTION.
