c. late 19th century, A rich pattern of ornate medallions spreads over the body of this antique Persian Senneh rug, the warm colors offset by a cooler background. In staggered rows, medallions in red and blue alternate in reiteration with matched rounds of yellow and crimson. Each circular figure is decorated with symmetrical, meditative floral designs. These appear to float over a geometric space of black and misty blue. A strip with blue and white flowers scrolls around the central area of this antique rug. Finely woven with all-natural dyes and in very good condition, this Senneh rug would make an important addition to any collection and can still be used as a sophisticated and decorative covering on the floor.
