INNOCENTIUS VIII (1432-1492). Bulla canonisationis sancti Leopoldi . [Vienna: printer of the 1482 Vocabolista (Stephan Koblinger?), after 6th January, 1485]. Chancery 4° (217 x 157mm). Collation: A 4 (A1r text). 4 leaves. 34 lines. Type: 1:86G. 5-line woodcut initial opening work. Unbound and uncut, in red cloth folding case, titled in gilt. The canonization of Duke Leopold (c.1073-1136) of Austria, on 6 January 1485, was the only one proclaimed by Pope Innocent VIII. Patron Saint of Austria, Leopold helped to arrange the Concordat of Worms (1122), which ended the conflict over investiture. He also founded numerous monasteries, including Heiligenkreuz, Klosterneuberg and Mariazell. A CLEAN, CRISP COPY, UNBOUND AND UNCUT AS ISSUED. This copy of the bull is signed 'A' on the first leaf and has the correct spelling of nostri on the last line of A4v. C 3267; BMC III, 809 (IA. 51508); Polain (B) 4459; IGI 5161; Goff I-102.
