Remarkably fresh copy of a scarce and important locomotive catalogue. Dickson Manufacturing Company, founded in 1865, produced a total of around 1400 locomotives, including standard-gauge and narrow-gauge engines as well as specialized locomotives for mining, logging, and plantation use, before being absorbed into the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) in 1901. Catalogues for the company are genuinely rare; OCLC locates only two examples. A facsimile of the 1885 catalogue was issued in the 1960s. Not in Romaine (though Romaine does list another, much smaller Dickson catalogue issued the same year; qv. ROMAIN p.303). Donated by Lorne Bair Rare Books, Winchester, VA.
