HUNTER (JOHN): An historical journal of the transactions at Port Jackson and Norfolk Island , FIRST EDITION, engraved title, frontispiece portrait, 15 engraved plates and charts, some folding, list of subscribers, (one plate lightly foxed in blank margin), contemporary tree calf, gilt anchor tool repeated on spine, (rubbed, lower joint restored, upper joint worn), engraved bookplate of Myles Storr Nigel Kennedy, [Ferguson 152; Wantrup 13], 4to, John Stockdale, London 1793 SUBSCRIBER'S COPY. Contemporary bookplate of Philip, seventh Viscount Wenman. Descended from Sir Richard Wenman, the first Viscount, 1573-1640, who had been knighted for gallantry at Cadiz in 1596, Philip died without an heir and the title was inherited by his sister, the Hon. Sophia Wenman, who had married William Henry Wykeham in 1768
