Hunan Province, China This pair of terminated prismatic calcite crystals are notable for their “rainbow effect,” flashes of blue, purple, pink, gold and green visible through their clear flat pyramid faces, which is due to iridescence in large internal fissures. (These fissures look faintly grayish blue, possibly due to light scattering, when viewed through the cloudy prism faces.) The longest crystal is 3 inches (7 cm) long, and both crystals are “armored” at their bases with spiky clear quartz. A unique piece! Measures 4 x 3 ½ x 2 ½ inches (10 x 6 ½ x 6 cm)
