Original black half calf with Royal coat-of-arms in papier maché laid down on upper cover, spine titled in gilt, gilt edges (light rubbing to leather). GOOD AND UNUSUAL EXAMPLE in having the papier-maché binding on one cover, not both. Elizabeth W. CHAMPNEY. Romance of the Bourbon Chateaux . New York: G.P. Putnam, 1905. 8° (207 x 145mm). Plates. Uniformly bound with 4 other titles by Champney in the same series, published 1906. Contemporary green half morocco, gilt spines tooled to an art nouveau floral design with coloured onlays forming petals, top edges gilt (joints lightly rubbed and slightly split, some onlays discoloured).
