Schuster, Briefwechsel Hofmannsthal/Insel, 1984, 36-38 u. 151ff.). - Gutes Exemplar. Modern Literature and Art - Private Pres, Portfolios and illustrated Books – First book edition with 4 orig. woodcuts. Half cloth with gilt top edge, gilt stamped title to spine and coloured paper cover (inconspicuously soiled). - The original plan was for Karl Walser to do the illustrations. At Harry Graf Kessler's instigation, the choice fell on Edward Gordon Craig whom he had met on his trip to Germany in 1904 (cf. Schuster, Briefwechsel Hofmannsthal/Insel, 1984, 36-38 and 151ff.). - Good copy.
