Beschreibung:

Huge collection composed of approximately 1100 Eretz Israel Ephemera items, or Ephemera items with Jewish context. The term Ephemera relates to written or printed creations which were not deliberately made to be preserved. The Greek word Ephemera (ἐφήμερα) means "for a day", i.e. material intended for use for only one day and then to be discarded. Examples of types of Ephemera are notices, flyers, calling cards, greeting cards, letters, stickers, brochures, postcards, posters, etc. In the past, Ephemera material were collected primarily by private collectors who developed collections, at times esoteric. More recently, libraries and archives expend much effort to collect Ephemera, with the realization that this material preserves and relates daily history. As opposed to official publications, Ephemera matter preserves authenticity, and does not have the artificial element found in classical matter such as printed literature. At present, most historians accept the fact that Ephemera matter can document culture as well as, if not better than, classic material such as publications in periodicals and books. (Taken from Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia). This collection is composed of notebooks, membership cards and invitations to various events, including official events; posters, proclamations and brochures (election posters etc.), theater and entertainment programs, philatelic items – souvenir leaves, first day envelopes, old boxes of matches, newspapers from the time of the settlement (yishuv) and the time after the establishment of the State of Israel, dozens of autographs and letters signed by mayors and Knesset members, publicity and instruction brochures, and many other items. Varied size and condition. From the collection of Arnie Druck.
