One of three large woodcuts (together with the Lonely Hero and the Noble Dosser) made at Glasgow Print Studio in 1987, when Howson was working in his studio in the Gallowgate area of Glasgow, close to a hostel for the homeless. Peter Howson studied at Glasgow School of Art, and in the 1980s became a leading member of a new generation of young Scottish artists named the New Glasgow Boys. A retrospective of Howson's prints was held at Flowers Gallery, Cork Street, London, 6 July-6 August 2016.
