A history of 7th Tennessee Cavalry (also known as the Tennessee Mounted Rifles), the unit in which Forrest enlisted as a private. He was quickly promoted and the 7th later came under his command as general. The author is noted in the rolls as enlisting on November 1, 1864 in Company A. Young's portrait, along with those of 4 other privates, is included on the last plate. Howes Y-28.
