The top of the barrel at the breech and the top of the frame are also marked with a Winchester proof. With checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forearm. With Winchester gripcap and checkered steel buttplate. Included with the rifle is an August 2004 typed and signed letter, on official an Winchester-Western letterhead, from Lynn Parsons, Herb's Son. The letter states: This Winchester Model 64, .30-.30 cal. lever action rifle, serial # 1117903, is the first firearm sold out of the estate of Joel Herbert "Herb" Parsons (1908-1959) of Somerville, Tennessee. The letter even goes on to explain some of the defects in the finish, due to the large quantities of fruits and vegetables that were shot using it shooting displays. Another letter is included from Lynn Parsons, which states: This is the only firearm from the estate of Herb Parsons which has been sold publicly...Most of his other firearms are in museums around the country. This lot also includes a picture of Herb using this very rifle in an exhibition shoot. Also included are several Winchester coins with bullet holes, holiday cards from the Parsons family, several business cards belonging to Herb and several other photos of Herb. Condition: Most of the blue finish still remains, with slight blemishes on the barrel (as noted in Lynn Parson's letter). The frame has one or two nicks and blemishes to the finish, but is in mostly very good condition. The stock and forearm have normal wear from uses, with one or two nicks and dings. The bore and action are very good.
