Jupiter and Mercury in the House of Philemon and Baucis (D. 5; B., Holl. 6)
Hendrik Goudt after Adam Elsheimer Jupiter and Mercury in the House of Philemon and Baucis (D. 5; B., Holl. 6) etching and engraving, 1612, a very good impression of the second, final state (Hollstein records only one impression of the first state, before letters, in Dresden), with excellent contrasts and detail, with a Strasbourg Bend with Fleur-de-Lys and Pendant Initials WR watermark, trimmed just underneath the text below and within the platemark on the sides and above, retaining a 2 mm. margin outside the subject, a repaired paper loss at the lower right sheet edge, a small damaged area (humidity stains and two short tears) just below the text at the lower sheet edge, the tips of the upper sheet edges missing and made up, a few short nicks at the right sheet edge in the margin, the subject in good condition; with Landscape at Dawn, Aurora (D., B., Holl. 7), by the same hand, a good impression, with a fragment of a Serpent with Pendant Temple (?) watermark, small margins, a few minor creases and a vertical drying crease, generally in good condition S. 206 x 224 mm.
