HELIODORUS. Aethiopicorum, libri X , in Greek and Latin. Paris: Louis Fevrier, 1619. 8 (168 x 110mm). Parallel Greek and Latin text in double columns, Bourdelot's Animadversiones in Latin. Printer's device on title, ornamental headpieces and initials. (Lightly browned.) 17th-century French tan morocco tooled in gilt, the sides with borders of filigree roll and small stamps, laurel wreath enclosing tooled presentation 'Ex dono D. Antonii Druot 1659', French royal arms above and arms of Chalon-sur-Saone below, spine richly tooled, gilt edges (very lightly rubbed, head of spine lightly worn with minor restorations). Provenance : Antoine Druot (presentation binding to a pupil at the College of Chalon-sur-Saone in Burgundy); P.D. Le Brun (title inscription); J.J. de Bure in (collation note on flyleaf dated 7 June 1836). A 17TH-CENTURY FRENCH PRIZE BINDING FROM THE COLLEGE OF CHALON-SUR-SAONE IN BURGUNDY. The benefactor of the present volume, Antoine Druot, was sommelier to Louis XIV (cf. Olivier fer 1578).
