HEBREW MANUSCRIPT - Certificate of proficiency in ritual slaughtering. Black ink on parchment, 234 x 179 mm., signed by Nathan Neta, Rabbi at the Hamburg (Hambro?) Synagogue, London, dated Wednesday 14 Cheshvan 5515 [1754]. In the document it is stated among others that 'the Bochur Jehiel ben Zalman is well-versed in the laws of Shechitah and Bedikah of the Maharil (author of laws of Shechitah) and has carried out Shechitah many times before the qualified Shochet of our community... and he has not fainted, as I have seen in the certificate of the Sephardic Bet-Din and he is also experienced in examining the Shechitah-knife and he is dexterous and experienced in examining the lungs in accordance with the Halakhah. I have also interrogated him and I found him sound in knowledge, wherefore I am giving him permission and authority to practice Shechitah anywhere and every Jewish person is permitted to eat from his Shechitah and Bedikah' -- HEBREW MANUSCRIPT - Seder Birkhot Nissu'in u-Berit milah u-Pidyon ha-Ben u-Birkat ha-Nehenin (blessings for various festive occasions). London, 1842. 14 leaves, black ink on stiff vellum, 133 x 100 mm., soiled and thumbed, title within attractive, naively executed architectural title, executed in text ink and copper varnish, signed: 'I wrote this in memory of my beloved friend Abraham ben David, who was Cantor and Juror in the New Synagogue of London, in the year 1842' (year in chronogram), written in a square Ashkenazic hand with some decorative initial words, contemporary gold-tooled black leather, in later slipcase -- HEBREW MANUSCRIPT - Collection of prayers for the Shabbat, with attractively decorated English and Hebrew dedication pages to the Brighton Hebrew Congregation. Brighton, 5666/1905. 11 leaves, black ink on parchment, 290 x 245 mm., English dedication page: 'Brighton Hebrew Congregation, in affectionate remembrance of Mr. S.H. Lorie and his beloved and lamented parents and wife...', with an English 'Prayer for the King and the Royal Family', Hebrew colophon by Saul Zevi Lorie, dated 1905, in a square Ashkenazic hand, with some decorated opening words, red leather back strip in black leather, spine and edges worn; with dedication plaque on front pastedown -- HEBREW MANUSCRIPT - Keri'at Shema shel Mittah (the reciting of the Shema before sleeping at night). London, copied by Abraham, son of Jacob Benjamin Zeev Franklin, first half 19th century. 9 leaves, black ink on parchment, 180 x 135 mm., severely soiled and thumbed, not affecting text, with numerous records of births and deaths in the Franklin family, English dedication page 'To my mother', dated 14 June 1847, in a square Ashkenazic hand, later dark red leather, preserving the original front and back covers, front cover inscribed 'M. Franklin' -- HEBREW MANUSCRIPT - Miscellaneous prayers for the ailing. London, early 19th century. 6 leaves, brown ink on paper, 240 x 185 mm., damped, corners repaired, mentioning the names of Solomon ben Zevi, rabbi of London, R. Samuel ben Issachar, R.
