Title with engraved vignette, 2 engraved maps and 42 engraved views, colored in a contemporary hand on 21 plates. Original quarter roan and yellow pictorial boards, spine gilt (wear to corners, sides darkened and rubbed); slipcase. FIRST EDITION. A Reviewer of this book for the Gentleman's Magazine wrote that this book is "an entertaining account of a journey round the world, in the small compass of 204 pages, including an introduction to Astronomy, a description of the Earth, and a definition of the technical terms which continually recur in Geographys, is the wonderful task which the Author has executed in the most masterly manner. We do not recollect having ever seen in a book written for young people, such a mass of pleasant and useful information" Moon 907; Gumuchian 5558.
