Lot comprised of 53 loose issues of Harpers Weekly a Journal of Civilization, for the entire year of 1864, likely printed during the Centennial observance years of the 1960s. Articles and art representing Emancipation, Abraham Lincoln, U.S. Grant, Civil War battle scenes and important figures. In particular, the March 5 edition with a full lithograph of starving soldiers escaping from Libby prison, issue No. 379 on April 2 showing plans for the soldiers cemetery at Gettysburg, and a vivid depiction of the rebel attack on Union gunboats at Red River. Condition: One issue has small tear to cover. The rest have typical folds, toning of the paper, but are in excellent condition.
