Harold Sterner, American 1895-1976 - Flower Arrangement at a Dinner for the Crown Prince of Graustark at the White House, Nov 1, 1972; watercolour on paper, titled and dated lower left, 30 x 41.6 cm: together with another work by the same artist of the same size and medium, 'Family Quarters and Senate Ladies Luncheon, May 9, 1962' (2) Provenance: with Great American Editions Ltd., New York (according to the label attached to the reverse of the frame); private collection Note: the label on the reverse of the frame gives a different title and event detail The artist created illustrations for the book 'The White House Gardens: A History and Pictorial Survey' by Frederick L. Kramer (New York: Great American Editions Ltd, 1973), the first book to document the history of American gardens.
