Beschreibung:

HARIF GUZMAN (AMERICAN B.1945) TWO FIGURES AND RED ROSE Light box 106 x 157cm (41½ x 61¾ in.) Harif Guzman was born in Venezuela and emigrated with his family to New York in 1980, when he was five. His diverse and wide-ranging body of work, in which he often transforms humble materials into powerful artworks includes photographs, paintings, bold mixed-media collages featuring LED lights and street murals. It is inspired by the city in which he lives and reflects his rich and varied experiences. His life has undergone significant transformations, from a childhood working in his father's print shop, life as a skate punk and successful careers as clothing designer and fine artist, all can be seen in his artistic vision. It is a hybrid of pop art and street art with, at times, subversive undertones. During a period of homelessness Guzman began tagging his name on the streets of New York. He became recognized for his work and his career as an artist flourished. Known for his alter ego Haculla, Guzman's created character has become an iconic figure in NYC street art. His work is in the collection of Tommy Hilfiger and Uma Thurman and, in 2013, has hung in the Whitney Museum of Art. He has collaborated with many companies including Ralph Lauren and his work has been exhibited across the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. Condition Report: There are some minor chips and abrasions to the edges of the frame, but generally it appears to be in good original condition. Condition Report Disclaimer
