Two envelopes, with typescripts of four letters, letterhead of the Savile Club, London, and Max Gate, Dorchester. Condition : one letter splitting, occasional spotting. Provenance : Frederick Baldwin Adams Jr. (bookplate); sale, Frederick B. Adams, Jr., Sotheby's, 7 November 2001, lot 471. To John Lane about Strang's portrait for Lionel Johnson's The Art of Thomas Hardy . These letters were written near the time of Hardy's father's death on 20 July 1892.
