(10) This fine set of Hans Christian Andersen's later fairy-tales is bound with an orig. inscription by Andersen for his friend William Bloch. It is dated Halberstadt 31 May 1872 during the time when Andersen travelled with the young Bloch through Germany. The inscription reads: “Erindring fra Leipzig og Halberstadt for min kære unge Ven William Bloch efter henved to Maaneders Flyvenom i Guds deilige Verden. H.C. Andersen / Halberstadt, Søndag 31 Mai 1872”. (ENG: Memory from Leipzig and Halberstadt for my dear young friend William Bloch after near two months touring God's wonderful world”. H.C. Andersen / Halberstadt, Søndag 31 Mai 1872). In his diary Bloch writes on June 3: "Jeg ser, at jeg ganske har glemt at skrive, at vi i Leipzig havde Besøg af French, som medbragte nogle Exemplarer af A.s nyeste Eventyr paa Tydsk. Jeg fik et i Halberstadt.” (p. 95) (ENG: I forgot to mention that we were visited by French in Leipzig. He brought some copies of Andersen’s new fairy-tales in German. I got a copy in Halberstadt.)
