Handel, George Frideric Suites de Pieces Pour le Clavecin [...Second Volume], London: Walsh, [c.1736 and c.1733] Smith nos.5 (vol.2) and 6 (vol.1), 2 volumes, 94 and 83 pages, oblong folio (vol.1: 23.3 x 32.5cm; vol.2: 22.2 x 30cm), plate number 490, engraved throughout, ownership inscriptions to vol.1 (on title: "Wm Tindal 1786 [?]. / J. Henry Leipold 1881...") and vol.2 (on front pastedown: "S. H. Emett [?]"), some old performance indications (trills etc.) and some modern pencil annotations, Dolmetsch Library stamps and pencil shelfmarks ("II B 25, 1 [...2]") to verso of titles, modern paper wrappers with manuscript title (vol.1), contemporary calf with red morocco label gilt to upper cover (vol.2), vertical crease and small marginal tear to title of vol.1, browning to edges of vol.2, upper cover of vol.2 now detached, earlier repaired with brown paper Handel's celebrated keyboard suites are among the most famous sets to be published in the whole of the eighteenth-century.
