Halliday Avray-Wilson (British, b. 1967) Blast piece - Running man Exploded bronze 200cm high, 100cm wide, 65cm deep On view at: The Sculpture Park Force and power are central themes in the works of Hal Wilson, who pushes the boundaries of materials and sculpting methods by using explosives to create his visceral pieces. Born in London and educated at Oxford Brookes University, Wilson now lives in France, where he works from a remote chateau in the Auvergne as well as a studio in Paris. The Ministry of Culture in his adoptive country awarded him the honour of Chevalier De LOrdre Des Arts Et Des Lettres in 2011. He was also awarded the Grand Medaille de Bronze du Department for his sculpture Victoire, a monument to the National French Resistance. He is also a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors. Previous solo exhibitions of his work include Schadenfreude (Cork Street London, 1998); Blastface (Orangenburgstrasse Berlin, 1999), Paris Stencils (Lamberty London 2014) and 20 Ans (Château de la Motte, 2014) The present work was exhibited at the 2012 Olympic Village, Stratford, for the duration of the 2012 London Olympic Games
