He assembled a vast personal collection of shells, illustrated in this catalogue of the collection, illustrated with engraved plates by Antonio Pazzi from drawings by Giuseppe Menabuoni The collection has remained intact, making up part of the permanent collection of the Museo Storia Naturale in Pisa.
