The Society of American Indians, a Pan-Indian reform group, was founded in 1911, only four years before this photograph was taken. This was precursor organization to the Pan-Indian National Council of American Indians. One of its more noteworthy and founding members, Henry Roe Cloud (1884-1950), Nebraska Winnebago educator, political leader, and Indian Service employee, participated in most of these annual conferences until 1920. Likely he is pictured somewhere in this group photo. Lot Amendments Condition: Light edge wear and rubbing, else near fine. Item number: 157776
