Lot of 7, including six daguerreotypes. Specifically: Quarter plate daguerreotype of gentleman wearing eyeglasses; housed in a pressed-paper case with the pad imprint of Root's Gallery, Philadelphia (studio of noted photographer brothers Marcus Aurelius and Samuel Root , and pencil dated under the plate 1849. Sixth plate daguerreotype of a couple; housed ina a pressed-paper case with ink identification under the plate Seth & Patty Hanchett / Grandfather & Grandmother of [O or A?]. J. Brown [Seth Hanchett (1783-1853); Patty Remington Hanchett (1785 or 1787-1854); both born in Connecticut and buried in Twinsburg, Ohio]. Sixth plate daguerreotype of man; housed in a pressed-paper case with faded pencil identification under the plate, William [Tsehaffert?]. Two sixth plate daguerreotypes of unidentified men; both housed in a pressed-paper case, separated at the spine. Ninth plate daguerreotype of a teenager; housed in an unusual fabric-wrapped case. PLUS a sixth plate floral/scroll Union case containing a photograph on porcelain of a young girl with curls, identified as Nellie McIntyre, circa 1862.
