Group of 13 silver gelatin prints, most 3 3/8 x 5 11/16 inches, 3 larger to 8 x 10 inches, 1920s, annotation to verso of some, one print linen-backed, some smudges, light creases, but generally very good to excellent. This group documents the Goodyear Tire Company's efforts to boost for the Pacific Highway system, which is now part of Interstate 5. The company, which, of course, had a vested interest in promoting automotive travel, sent one of its large trucks to demonstrate the viability of the transportation of goods via the emerging highway system. Images depict at least two different Goodyear trucks, one with a banner advertising the Pacific Highway Caravan, which was organized by the Automobile Club and traveled from Vancouver to Stockton on what was once the ancient Siskiyou Trail. Other images show a Goodyear truck with a trancontinental banner, the truck leading a caravan of cars, roads being built, the Goodyear truck being refueled by a Red Crown Gasoline truck, and more.
