Leiden, 1743. 2 parts in one vol., 8vo, 203 x 121 mm., contemporary calf. FIRST EDITION. The first Virginian flora, based on collections made by John Clayton at the beginning of the 18th century. The first part of this work was published in 1739, and copies are known with the first title bearing that date (see lot above). The second part appeared in 1743, at which time a cancel title was issued for the first part, the sheets of which were reissued, not reprinted. Stafleu & Cowan TL2 2189.
