Rare French-German edition of Nederlandtsen Hovenier published the same year as the first edition, containing “the best illustrations of the famous gardens of Ryswyck, Honsholredyk, and the Huis ‘ten Bosch as they were before they were altered in imitation of Le Notre’s designs” (E. Rohde, The Story of the Garden , London, 1932). Sectional titles to parts I and V are dated 1669, the remainder 1670. A fine copy . 5 parts in 1 volume, 4to (198 x 157 mm). Text in French and German throughout, two letterpress general titles (one with engraved vignette), five sectional title pages (one fully engraved, two with engraved vignettes, one with additional engraved title), fifteen full-page copper engravings of front elevations and plans of garden designs, fifty-five large woodcuts of garden plans, lattice work, sundials, etc.; other woodcuts in the text.
