GRIMM, Jacob Ludwig & Wilhelm Karl. The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. Illustrated by Arthur Rackham translated by Mrs Edgar Lucas, London: Constable, 1909, 4°, number 74 of 750 copies, signed by the artist, 40 tipped-in coloured plates on white paper, original vellum, gilt (lacking ties). [Latimore & Haskell p.34] Rackham originally illustrated Grimms' Fairy Tales in 1900 with a coloured frontispiece and 99 black and white drawings. He continued to rework the original drawings and added new ones over the next 9 years before publishing this best-known edition [Hudson Rackham p.46]. A colour plate from "Hansel and Grettel" is illustrated on page ... (actual size 178 x 126mm.), in addition to the silhouette shown above.
