First edition. Barker's sea stories were extremely popular in their day. Cruikshank's caricatures are excellent: “the artist gave full vent to his faculty for portraying the slack-trousered and pig-tailed tar of the period” (DNB) and the hand-coloring superb. Lot Amendments Condition: Some scrapes and scratches to covers, corners lightly bumped, left edge of front cover slightly faded, offsetting from plates to adjacent text pages, foxing to endsheets, bookplate to front pastedown, about very good.
