Together with a silver cigarette case by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank) Shepherd, Birmingham 1919, engraved Lt. Col, M.A. Wolff O.B.E from Canadian Record Office 30.1.20 Col. M A Woolf was enlisted in the 16th Battalion (Canadian Scottish) of the Canadian Expeditionary Force when he was wounded as a sergeant stretcher bearer. He then served with the Record Office, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He bequeathed a large library of works related to Rudyard Kipling to the Kipling Society in 1954. In 1968 this bequest passed to the Royal Commonwealth Society.
