GREAT SOVIET ANTI-RELIGION POSTER 1931. Comprising a large and impressive vintage color lithograph poster "The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles" by famed Soviet graphic artist Mikhail M. Cheremnykh (1890-1962). Here is depicted the "Holy Spirit" at top rendered as a capitalistic bag of money descending upon figures ("apostles") representing the major religions, Islam, Catholicism, Russian Orthodoxy and Judaism all whom greedily grab the gold coins falling from above. Published by IZOGIZ Moscow-Leningrad 1931, and artists name printed lower right in Russian, M.Cheremnykh. Mounted on linen. 40.25 inches x 27.75 inches (102 x 71 cm). Strong bold colors and in a good state of preservation. Unframed.
