Beschreibung:

Title: Grand Centennial/Festival March, for the Opening of the Centennial, Commemorative of the Declaration of Independence of the United States Of America... Author: Wagner, Richard Place: Cincinnati Publisher: John Church Date: 1876 Description: Arranged for Piano by Theodore Thomas. 19pp. Original color wrappers. Sewed at spine. Undoubtedly the most obscure and least-known composition of the German composer best know for his four-opera Ring of the Nibelung. Written six years before his death, the composition – for which he was paid $5,000 - was a desperate attempt to recover from the debt he had incurred by the financial failure of the Bayreuth Festival performances of his Ring cycle. It was, of course, ironic that the music opening the celebration of 100 years of American democracy should be written by the composer later beloved of Hitler’s Nazis. Lot Amendments Condition: Very good. Item number: 288589
