Gilbert with the author's compliments. Nov. 1922." An April 1902 issue of Golf Illustrated notes a C.J. Gilbert elected captain of Frinton-on-Sea Golf Club. Important and classic golf architecture title, which contains four short essays on golf course design by one of the greats in his field. Dr. Mackenzie "is recognized as the most influential golf course architect of the early twentieth century...Mackenzie's reputation was secured with the publication...of his seminal work 'Golf Architecture,' in which he set forth 13 rules for successful design" - D&J M2890; D&M 24890.
