Goeze's sale of 6,394 lots, mainly theological, which he left to his only surviving son, Gottleib Friedrich, pastor in Hamburg (1754-1791). From the preface of the catalogue by Martin Friedrich Pitiscus, chief librarian of the Hamburg City Library, it appears that it was compiled by Arnold Schuback, a Hamburg "Privatgelehrter" who left his valuable library to the City Library (ADB) which inherited Goeze's famous Bible collection from his son.
