Good copy. Description of the "Wunderkammer" or Cabinet of curiosities of Ducal Holstein at Schleswig, esp. under Christian Albert, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp (1641-1695). The objects included were related to natural history (sometimes faked), geology, ethnography, archaeology, religious or historical relics, works of art (including cabinet paintings), and antiquities. Its catalogue was made by Adam Olearius (Ölschläger, 1599-1671), librarian and mathematician at Schloss Gottorf, who added the Chronica or history of the duchy. Engraved frontispiece by H. von Hensberg. numbered double-page and 1 full-page engravings, and 1 double-page genealogical tree. Printed in gothic type, in 2 columns. Ref. VD-39:123900C. - Cat. Van Hulthem (this copy). Prov. Charles Van Hulthem (1764-1832), famous Ghent collector, whose library was acquired as the founding collection of the Belgian Royal Library (bookpl.).
