German playing cards. Deutsche Spielkarte No.303, Frankfurt am Main: B. Dondorf, circa 1900, a complete deck of 36 chromolithographed playing cards, comprising 4 suits of 9 (German suits), each with pip cards daus & 6-10, and 3 full-length court cards, pip cards with rural scenes at the foot, rank given at top of obers, daus of acorns with intials BD, daus of hearts wiht tax stamp, daus of leaves with company name, no condition points to note, rounded gilt corners, versos blue ornamental design, each card 104 x 62 mm, with original printed and titled box, Dondorf dragon logo on front, lightly soiled, a little wear to edges, together with: Rokoko-Bild, Whist no.158, Frankfurt am Main: B. Dondorf, circa 1890, a complete deck of 52 chromolithographed playing cards, comprising 4 suits of 13 (French suits), each with pip cards ace-10, and 3 double-ended court cards, the aces with decorative border of roses (spades & diamonds) or rose hips (hearts & clubs), jack of clubs with maker's details, ace of hearts with Swiss tax stamp (Berne), toned and lightly rubbed in places, few minor marks, a little dusty, rounded gilt corners, versos floral honeysuckle design with white border, each card 83 x 57 mm, with original decorative titled box, company name on front and top, toned and lightly marked, edges a little rubbed, plus: Patience Karten No.240, Frankfurt am Main: C.L. Wüst, circa 1910, a complete deck of 52 chromolithographed oval playing cards (French suits), double-ended court cards with German indices, one Wüst star to jack of clubs, ace of hearts with tax stamp, lightly dusty, very slightly bowed, versos pink pattern of Edelwiess with company name to border, each card 84 x 55 mm, with original pink box (faded, rubbed and dusty) with lift-off lid, box inner with remnant of pink silk ribbon, box lid with title, manufacturer and Reichs patent number, box base with label of a Berlin perfume shop and price ticket, with 12 other German packs, all 20th-century, including: Swiss costume patience cards no.90, by C.L. Wüst, circa 1910, French suits, 52 complete with original box; German War Cards, by ASS (Altenburg), 1917, German suits, 32 complete (5 cards from other packs); Military Cards, by F.A. Lattmann, 1915, 36 complete with original box; Reichs-Karte, by ASS (Altenburg), circa 1915, French suits, 52 complete with joker and original box; Bergbaukarte, or Mining Cards, by ASS (Altenburg), 1925, German suits, 32 complete; also 2 miniature packs, and a limited edition deck Jubiläumspiel, 1985, signed and numbered (499/500) by the artist Jüngen Pankarz, a quantity of cards from each deck mounted (not adhered) to 15 display boards, several encapsulated in clear plastic (none examined out of boards), the remainder in plastic bags, the boards 54.5 x 40 cm and smaller (Quantity: 16) First and second items: Braun (Schriftenreihe 'Spielkarten' band 4) BD 1900/3 (p.88), and BD 1889/1 (pp.68-69) respectively.
