A rare and large gilt metal two-train stackfreed pre-hairspring hour striking clock watch Unsigned, circa 1600 Gilt-finished two-train movement, verge escapement with foliot and hog's bristle, C-shaped stackfreed, striking on one hammer onto a bell, gilt brass dial, outer chapter ring with engraved Roman numerals and twelve touch pins, engraved inner 24 hour (13 to Z4) Arabic divisions with German "Z" for numeral "2", pinhole for setting the striking, engraved foliage decorated centre, single blued steel hand, large tambour-shaped case, hinged front cover pierced with twelve heart-shaped openings to reveal the hour markers, central aperture for the setting of the hand, pierced foliage decorated band, back with pierced and engraved floral and foliage decoration, unsigned 75 mm. diam.
